CHERRY HILL, NJ-Local officials are moving to redevelop two properties for Subaru, potentially with tax incentives, if it keeps its national headquarters in Cherry Hill, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The company, which has doubled sales in the past five years, is considering various expansion sites that include the Philadelphia Navy Yard. If Suburu doesn't go for the Cherry Hill sites, local officials say it's still a good plan to prepare them for redevelopment.

Cherry Hill council members voted Tuesday to study designation of these sites as redevelopment areas: a 34-acre industrial property on Woodcrest Road; and a 10-acre parcel on Route 70, where an offtrack betting facility was approved six years ago but never built.

The Woodcrest Road site off I-295 is partly occupied by Victory Refrigeration.

Currently, Suburu's headquarters are in a 115,000-square-foot building on Route 70 here; it also maintains an operations center in Pennsauken.

Michael McHale, a Suburu spokesman told the Inquirer that its future plans are still open and that is “in regular discussion" with the township. Read more here.
