LOS ANGELES-Blu Homes, a builder of engineered prefab homes, will open its first model home later this year in Agoura Hills. The model home will be located on a hillside lot.
The 2900-square-foot “Breezehouse” has a separate 24-foot pod which can be used as a guesthouse, yoga room, or home office. The model will have four bedrooms, four bathrooms and attached garage. When finished later this year, the home will be open for private tours by appointment and public open house events hosted by Blu Homes. The Los Angeles model home is the first of many that Blu expects to construct in key markets throughout North America.
The Agoura Hills model model offers floor-to-ceiling fenestration, high ceilings and an open floor plan, along with larger bedrooms with walk-in closets, a 5' x 5' walk-in shower in the master bath, folding Nanawalls and expanded storage, including a walk-in pantry.
"This Breezehouse has been customized specifically for the Southern California lifestyle based on what local homebuyers told us they are looking for most in a home," said a statement from Bill Haney, Blu Homes' founder and president. Blu Homes executives were not immediately available for additional comment.
All Blu Homes are LEED Silver certifiable and are solar-ready. Beyond the standard green features that Blu includes in every home, such as recycled steel framing, radiant heat flooring, high R-value walls and energy-efficient appliances, Blu Homes can achieve net zero energy status, Energy Star rating and higher LEED certifications with the inclusion of other available green elements.
The L.A. model Breezehouse will be built in the company's Vallejo, CA. factory, transported by truck, and then "unfolded" on site. Blu Homes' building technology and steel framing allow its homes to be set on most land sites and to withstand extreme seismic, weather, and wind conditions.
As reported earlier by GlobeSt.com, Blu Homes signed a ten-year lease on its Vallejo factory, its first plant on the West coast.
