Retail real estate landlords with vacancies, listen up!
As you probably know, restaurants are one of the hottest expanding categories right now, and Nation's Restaurant News has issued its of list of the top 10 growing chains in the country.
In case you haven't already clicked on the link above, we'll just come out and say who is number one -- Firehouse Subs, based in Jacksonville, FL. The chain has 569 units currently, and company executives have a goal of 2,000 units by 2020.
Though Firehouse is in the lead, it has some pretty heavy competition. The second-place finisher on the list is Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, a much larger competitor that already has more than 1,500 locations across the country. Its unit count went up 17.5% last year.
Third on the list is Cheddar's, a full-service chain based in Irving, TX, came in third. Its unit count, at 129, increased 21.7%, with locations scattered across the country.
Rounding out the top five are two chicken-wing concepts, Buffalo Wild Wings and Wingstop. Buffalo is a little larger than its competition, with 884 units compared to 533.
Rounding out the rest of the top 10 are Chipotle Mexican Grill, Moe's Southwest Grill, Little Caesar's Pizza, Zaxby's and Panda Express.
What is your opinion of these chains. Can they fill the vacancies seen in shopping centers across the country? Are there any particular chains that are especially good/bad tenants?
