HOUSTON—Expanding its presence in the Southwest, Hendricks-Berkadia has opened up an office here and has brought Chip Nash and Greg Austin on as partners, and Wade Schmitz as a vice president. The local industry veterans will head the new office of Hendricks-Berkadia—the investment sales business unit of Berkadia Commercial Mortgage LLC—and will work with Berkadia's existing Houston office to expand both apartment investment sales and mortgage banking services throughout the Houston metropolitan area.

“Opening the Houston office with veterans like Chip and Greg along with their team offers Hendricks-Berkadia the tremendous opportunity to expand our Texas market presence with an extremely knowledgeable and professional apartment advisory group,” says Don Hendricks, CEO of Hendricks-Berkadia.

Before coming to the firm, Nash and Austin were managing directors with Jones Lang LaSalle's Texas Apartment Team and Schmitz was on their team. Together they have 60 years of apartment advisory experience, having closed more than $6 billion worth of multifamily sales in the region. The specialize in institutional and private capital transactions and have worked with development companies to build over 20,000 apartment units valued at more than $2.5 billion throughout their career.

According to Nash, the decision to join Hendricks-Berkadia “was an easy one. The firm has a cutting-edge platform and a multitude of financial and advisory services for every apartment investor that is unequalled in the industry. The firm also offers a true nationwide collaborative advisory network of top professionals in key markets. We are excited to launch the Houston office opening.”
