MIAMI—The City of Miami Beach Land Use and Development Committee gathered on Monday night to discuss plans for redevelopment of the Miami Beach Convention Center District. Some thought the committee may decide to endorse one of the teams, but that didn't happen.

The winning bid for the project, which has been a dog fight between South Beach ACE and Portman-CMC, is right around the corner. The Miami Beach City Commission will cast the deciding vote on July 17.

At the meeting, the Committee reviewed the City Manager's recommendations from the previous week. Those recommendations downscale the project, essentially eliminating residential, cultural building, and a significant amount of retail space north of 17th Street.
