LOS ANGELES-A $53-million mixed-use complex at 1111 Wilshire Blvd. has just opened in the downtown area. It will target urban professionals and offers close to 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
The 1111 Wilshire Blvd. property is in the Center City West area at the corner of Bixel St. The site is a former parking lot for an adjacent medical office building. No ground-floor retailers have been selected, but the building has started renting its 210 units, which range from 397-square-foot studios renting for $1,500 per month to 1,316-square-foot, three-bedroom units offered at $3,400.
The developer was Holland Partners Group and the building was designed by Nadel Architects. Building amenities include a large courtyard and roof deck with barbeques, picnic tables, seating areas and an outdoor spa. The residents will also have access to a fitness center, media center and a business center.
“The downtown location of this project meant we had to make sure the building's design stood out as a place urban businesspeople want to live, while still blending with the surrounding commercial buildings,” said Dale Yonkin, project director at Nadel Architects, in a prepared statement. “This was done, in part, by providing the outdoor space on the roof and opening up the ground floor for retail, which also includes the services residents are looking for in this neighborhood.”
In addition to Yonkin, the Nadel Architects team includes Afsaneh Riahi and John Yang, design planners, and Rhoden Skyles, project manager.
As previously reported by GlobeSt.com, Nadel Architects founder Herb Nadel is gradually delegating business to his partners as he begins winding down his duties and share of the company.
