PALO ALTO, CA-Law firm Perkins Coie has added Michael A. Glenn to the firm's Palo Alto office as a partner in the firm's intellectual property practice. He was most recently a patent attorney at Glenn Patent Group, a Silicon Valley-based patent prosecution boutique he founded in 1992.

Prior to GPG, he held various senior in-house positions at Intel Corp., National Semiconductor, and Digital Equipment Corp.

“Michael is an outstanding patent attorney,” explains Chris Kao, office managing partner of Perkins Coie's Palo Alto office. “His in-house experience and his technical know-how allow him to effectively and successfully counsel clients on a wide range of patent issues. Our local clients continue to need sophisticated IP advice, so we expect Michael to be in great demand.”

Glenn has extensive experience in all phases of patent prosecution, including IP audits and strategy, opinions of counsel, pre-litigation patent defense and assertion, appeals, reissues and reexaminations. His matters have involved technologies that include telecommunications, information technology, business methods, medical devices, semiconductors and mechanical inventions. Glenn is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

David Chiappetta has also rejoined the firm as a partner in the commercial litigation practice. Chiappetta returns to Perkins Coie from Corrs Chambers Westgarth in Melbourne, Australia, where he prosecuted antitrust and consumer protection cases on behalf of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the Australian government's competition watchdog.

Chiappetta has represented major corporations in a wide range of litigation matters with a focus on class actions, complex contractual disputes, antitrust and consumer protection claims. He has also counseled clients on issues that may give rise to antitrust concerns such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and policies relating to pricing and supply. Chiappetta has extensive experience in merger clearance and assisting clients in responding to government inquiries and investigations relating to antitrust and consumer protection claims.

As GlobeSt.com previously reported, the firm is currently expanding its footprint nationally. The Seattle-based firm subleased nearly 10,000 square feet at 30 Rockefeller Plaza from Haynes Boone LLP a little over one year ago and expanded to nearly 25,000 square feet in the building by subleasing the space from Squire Sanders in the fall.
