SANTA CLARA, CA-Those who follow @GlobeStcom on Twitter and @GlobeStLIVE may have seen a post teasing the announcement, but GlobeSt.com has learned that Gigamon Inc. has signed a 105,664-square-foot office sublease at 3300 Olcott St. in Santa Clara, CA. Gigamon, a global technology leader that was founded in the Bay Area, will relocate its corporate headquarters into the standalone office building in Q1 of 2014.

Mike Mordaunt and Nate Currie of Cresa San Jose recently represented Gigamon. The company now occupies 45,000 square feet at 598 Gibraltar Dr. in Milpitas and will occupy the entire two-story, class A building.

Gigamon CEO Paul Hooper says the new location will provide the space needed for the company to continue expanding and strengthening its headquarters' presence in the Bay Area. The plug-and-play site offers 520 wired workstations, 25 private offices, 28 conference rooms, multiple labs, a server room, a large lunchroom, and freeway signage.

Last year, we exclusively wrote about 3300 Olcott St., when Alto Networks signed a 110,000-square-foot office lease there. The network security company also had expanded and relocated its corporate headquarters from its previous location at 232 E. Java Dr. in Sunnyvale to optimize space efficiency.

Jeff Fredericks, managing partner of Colliers' Silicon Valley office, says that "The Silicon Valley's economic engine is turning and our commercial real estate market is reflecting that with very encouraging statistics." Office and R&D buildings represented the lion's share of activity with over 80% of the Valley's gross absorption in Q2 2013, says the firm. Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and San Jose accounted for 60% of the activity for these two product types.

More and more tech companies are seeking space in the Santa Clara and San Jose area. As GlobeSt.com recently reported, DataDirect Networks, a provider of scalable Big Data and Cloud storage solutions, relocated to 50,500 square feet at 2929 Patrick Henry Dr. in Santa Clara. The company previously occupied 20,000 square feet at 155 Moffett Park Dr. in Sunnyvale, CA and was expanding the size of its Silicon Valley offices and adding new employees to “accommodate its rapid business growth.”
