RED BANK–Woodmont Properties and Metrovation Terranomics have begun work on West Side Lofts, a mixed-use project that lingered long in the development stage in this shoreline community.
The project will include 10 townhomes, 79 loft-style apartments and three live/work units. There will also be street-level retail anchored by a brew pub, and an on-site parking garage, according to the development partners.
Construction at the site at West Front Street and Bridge Avenue, two blocks from the Red Bank train station, should be complete by the fall of 2014. The site is adjacent to the Two River Theatre and across from The Galleria Red Bank, a collection of boutiques, restaurants and professional offices in a former turn-of-the-century uniform factory.
“Without question, Red Bank is one of the most sought-after boroughs in the state and these apartments will be the epitome of luxurious living,” said Eric Witmondt, Woodmont's CEO. “Residents will be able to simply step outside and connect with an eclectic energy in this thriving downtown neighborhood.”
Many apartments will have Navesink River views, and the units are designed with high ceilings, large kitchens and floor plan options. The live/work artist spaces will have multi-level layouts, with showroom space set across from Red Bank's Two River Theatre.
The apartments will surround a landscaped courtyard; also a rooftop deck will be equipped with a fire pit and hot tub. A five-story parking structure is part of the project.
Its 25,000 square feet of shops and restaurants will be anchored by Triumph Brewery, which serves its own craft beer selections and locally grown organic foods.
“Founded in San Francisco, Metrovation brings its West Coast influence to Red Bank with this project,“ said Chris Cole of that company. He said Metrovation has been involved with projects in the Red Bank area for nearly two decades now and is personally invested in the community's downtown revitalization.
Red Bank is also home to The Count Basie Theatre. The borough hosts various annual festivals, including RiverFest - the state's largest food and music event. Other area attractions include Marine Park, Monmouth Conservatory of Music and several historic sites.
