URBANA, OH—Even though many high-tech companies have decided to head for the CBD, others believe they can still attract the right employees even if they settle in a suburban area, The Germany-based Rittal Corporation, a subsidiary of the Friedhelm Loh Group, for example has decided to move its US headquarters from Urbana, OH to The Woodfield Corporate Center in Schaumburg, IL, a suburb northwest of Chicago. About 40 employees will occupy the space. The move is just one part of an international restructuring effort for the IT company, one that includes a multi-million dollar upgrade to several production lines in their Urbana production facility.
"We found a home in The Woodfield Corporate Center and intend to be fully operational by September," says Douglas Peterson, president of Rittal Corp., US, "The initial phase will include relocating the company's executives, sales leadership, marketing and product management staff."
The new facility will include a customer training center, product testing facilities and a large-scale product showroom, set to open in this year's fourth quarter. The company manufactures and develops enclosures, power distribution, IT infrastructure and software.
"Getting closer to our customers in order to become their first choice is a significant goal now and in the years ahead," Peterson adds. "Moving to suburban Chicago with its proximity to one of the world's most accessible airports is an excellent step toward making those critical connections easier.”
