LOS ANGELES-EVOQ Properties Inc., one of downtown Los Angeles' largest property owners, is adding fashion retailer HauteLook to its 1.4-million-square-foot Alameda Square complex, enhancing the property's fashion presence. HauteLook—one of five fashion retailers on the property, which includes American Apparel and Ella Moss—will move into a 7,500-square-foot space in building one.
The addition of HauteLook comes after a GlobeSt.com report earlier this month that EVOQ Properties was actively pursuing plans to integrate more creative properties at Alameda Square.
“We have made a multi-million-dollar investment in renovating, upgrading and modernizing the campus to meet the needs of fashion, tech and other creative industries,” says Martin Caverly, CEO of EVOQ Properties. “We welcome more tenants in the creative space, like HauteLook, that will bring more jobs and help grow the community.”
The Alameda Square complex has deep roots in the downtown community. The property was originally built in 1923 by the Southern Pacific Railroad, and has a charming quality that is attractive to creative businesses. To provide the best quality, EVOQ Properties has renovated the space with upgraded electrical service, extensive landscaping, a 6,000-square-foot roof deck and a space for food trucks, while still preserving the property's historic qualities, like concrete floors, exposed windows and interior columns.
These qualities attracted HauteLook, a Nordstrom-owned and members-only flash sale retailer, to the space. “Alameda Square's rich history in L.A. commerce complements HauteLook's origin as a California casual-chic shopping destination,” says Amy Fierstein, VP of production for HauteLook.
The retailer intends to use the space as a photo studio for its corporate operations. “Alameda Square is an incredible location for our photo studio,” says Fierstein “The large open space gives us the flexibility to produce a wide variety of shoots so we can capture our rich product offering.
