Telx Expands at Lakeside Tech Center

Ben Gonyea, vice president, product with data services provider Telx®, tells GlobeSt.com that their recent power expansion at the city’s Lakeside Technology Center at 350 E. Cermak Rd. was not the result of a new lease. In order to give their clients’ confidence in the firm’s staying power, Telx typically signs long-term leases, usually about 20 years, for the space it leases at data centers and Telx first moved into Lakeside in 2006.

Furthermore, Gonyea calls suites at Lakeside “turnkey space” that has all critical infrastructure ready to go, including power and the accompanying cooling systems. So when a previous tenant recently left two suites at the center, which, in addition to the extra 1.2 megawatts, have about 12,000-square-feet of space, Telx could rather quickly move in. The company now occupies about 80,000-square-feet of space in Lakeside.
