PARSIPPANY, NJ-Hollister Construction Services has just completed a complete rehabilitation of an outdated building here, turning it into an office training center for Lexus that will have LEED Platinum rating.
Lexus is opening its Eastern Area office and training center at 300 Webro Road and required a fast-track construction schedule. Hollister did the work on a four-month deadline.
“We chose Hollister because of the company's extensive experience with the local jurisdiction and commitment to the project timeline.” said Carlos Soria of Toyota Motor Sales' real estate division.
He said the company also contrived to deliver “significant savings” on materials, construction methods and systems - including use of pre-fab components.
The new facility provides a transformed office environment for Lexus's regional associates and state-of-the-art space for training sales personnel and service technicians from around the Northeast.
The training facility has glass walls and skylights and automated systems to maximize the use of the daylight and minimize power requirements. Interior glass garage doors allow extreme flexibility of use of the space.
The 33,528-square-foot building is expected to achieve a LEED CI Platinum rating, which is the US Green Building Council's highest possible grade for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
The structure was designed by Ware Malcomb and the project was overseen by Jones Lang LaSalle. Site improvements, performed by Langan Engineering, included everything from new garage bays and improved parking areas to detention basins designed to temporarily hold excess storm water.
“Working with exceptional partners on this project, we incorporated a number of advanced design elements that not only improved the building's efficiency but also made it a far more pleasant space to enter,” said Christopher Johnson, Hollister's founder and CEO. “With these additions, the Lexus Eastern Area office and training center offers an important model for the next generation of high-performance green buildings.”
Johnson said other recent projects his company has worked on include:
- a 38,750-square-foot fit-out in Bridgewater for Dendreon, a biotechnology company developing cancer drugs
- interior construction of a Joe's Crab Shack restaurant inside the new Courtyard Newark Downtown hotel in Newark
- construction of three residential buildings in Teachers Village, a downtown revitalization in Newark.
