LOS ANGELES-Today, the doors of Brentwood's first mid-rise apartment complex in over a decade will fling open for the official grand-opening gala. Dubbed bw, the 78-story, luxury building stands out on the corner of Wilshire and Barrington with a glass exterior and Zen rooftop garden.
California Landmark Group developed the complex, which aims to offer flexible and varied options to the many types of renters flooding into the Westside, from temporary tourists and businesspersons to full-time residents. Leases vary from one month to one year, and for this reason, hotel amenities are key. The 700- to 1,500-square-foot modern residences have 20-foot ceilings, large windows to show off vast city vistas, Caesar stone countertops and Carerra marble kitchen and bath. Fully furnished units are also available for a complete turnkey option.
Outside the unit walls, the building features a community rooftop with a spa, fire pits and grilling area. Chef Hans R?ckenwagner's R?ckenwagner Café is on the ground floor, and offers in-house dining delivery, while a full-service concierge is available to arrange for a maid service or grocery delivery and a complimentary valet service takes care of your car.
The building was developed to provide luxury-housing options near the city's job center. “The Westside is one of the city's most jobs-rich areas, and we recognized the need for new housing that locates employees closer to where they work with easy access to transportation,” says Ken Kahan, president and CEO of California Landmark Group.
The building is located only yards from the MTA Rapid Bus, providing tenants with easy access to public transportation options. “[bw] is a living, breathing example of transit-oriented development that is extremely rare on the Westside,” says Kahan.
At the recent USC Casden Multifamily Forecast, experts stressed the importance of understanding today's renter, and this property is indicative of a development created with the tenant in mind.
In an earlier story, GlobeSt.com reported that California Landmark Group allocated $75 million for multifamily infill projects in Southern California, with a heavy focus in Hollywood, Koreatown and Downtown in the Los Angeles market. They are not alone. Mixed-use development projects are launching in submarkets through Los Angeles, including the recently announced Gen-Y building in Glendale.
