HOUSTON-Statoil Gulf Services LLC has entered into a long-term lease agreement with Thomas Property Group for 581,000 square feet at CityWestPlace; an increase of the current 225,000 square feet it currently occupies for its US headquarters.

Statoil Gulf Services, an upstream, wholly owned subsidiary of Statoil ASA, will begin occupancy in mid-2015 and will eventually occupy the entire CityWestPlace Building 2, which comprises 431,000 square feet. The agreement also involves extension of its existing lease of 150,000 square feet in CityWestPlace Building 4. The Statoil lease effectively allows Thomas Property Group to backfill space that will be vacated by Halliburton Energy Services. The Halliburton lease expires in December 2014.

Originally constructed as the Texas headquarters of BMC Software Inc., CityWestPlace in the Westchase submarket is a 30-acre campus on Beltway 8 just north of Westheimer Road, comprising 1.46 million square feet of office space, parking and amenities. BMC continues to lease approximately 550,000 square feet in Buildings 1, 2 and 4 of the campus. Other major CityWestPlace tenants include Ion Geophysical, Bristow Group and Spark Energy.
