LOS ANGELES-Booming multifamily development, excess capital and the integral role of product management teams gave RealShare Apartment speakers plenty to talk about at last night's annual Speakers Dinner at the Palms Restaurant. The dinner was the inaugural event to today's RealShare Apartments conference.

Kicking off the event, industry leaders individually rose to offer their view of the current market. Opinions varied throughout the group, but many said they believed the overall apartment market was in its 7th or 8th inning. While others said the market was in the fifth inning, the overall consensus among the group was that multifamily has entered the second half of the game.

Speakers on the lending panel discussed Fannie and Freddie regulations. “Freddie and Fannie are making it clear that they want to keep doing business,” Brian Eisendrath, CBRE vice chairman told GlobeSt.com. “They pulled back a little bit on production this year, but they are doing everything they can to have a successful year. Some of the changes have been good in that they show a desire to do affordable product.”

From a developer's perspective, Mike Rovner, president of Michael Rovner Construction, added that investors are coming to multifamily because it is still a safe investment. “Even though the cap rates have been squeezed significantly, people still feel safer buying multifamily and putting their money into multifamily,” he told GlobeSt.com

The market conversation carried on into the evening. If you're still itching for more information, join us tomorrow at RealShare Apartments at the Westin Bonaventure. It isn't too late to register.
