CINCINNATI—Anchor Health Properties, a development company that focuses exclusively on medical facilities, has just been selected as the development manager of the Heart and Vascular Institute, a 39,000-square-foot facility on the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Edgewood campus in suburban Edgewood, KY.

The Institute will be an addition to St. Elizabeth's main building and is one part of St. Elizabeth Healthcare's $30 million investment in their existing cardiovascular program. Construction will begin in November of 2014 and end in the first quarter of 2015. The first phase will include an upgrade of existing space and the addition of a hybrid operating room, cardiac MRI and specialty clinical space.

“The design needs to feel comfortable and welcoming but also showcase the advanced technology and high quality of care The Institute provides, all while reflecting the established brand of St. Elizabeth,” says Paula Crowley, CEO of Delaware-based Anchor.

Institute officials say they will also create a Center of Excellence for St. Elizabeth Healthcare and employ a comprehensive and integrated approach to the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease.

“We put a great amount of emphasis on investing in our community by providing comprehensive and compassionate care to our neighbors, and The Institute will further this mission,” says John Dubis, president and CEO, St. Elizabeth Healthcare. "Our goal is to reduce deaths from heart disease and vascular disease in Northern Kentucky by 25 percent over the next 10 years.”
