CHICAGO—Healthcare has been one of the strongest sectors in the metro area's commercial real estate market. And the Tucker Development Corp., a Midwest–based developer of shopping centers and mixed-use properties, has just sold an outlot space at Country Club Plaza, a retail center in the northern portion of suburban Country Club Hills, IL, to DaVita Healthcare Partners, Inc. which plans to quickly build a dialysis center on the property.

DaVita, a Fortune 500 company that operates or provides administrative services at more than 2,010 dialysis facilities around the country, plans a 9,776-square-foot facility on the 1.5-acre parcel. According to Vice President of Leasing Adam Moschin, who represented Tucker in the transaction, DaVita will open its new facility in summer 2014.

“We are pleased to welcome DaVita to the diverse mix of retailers at Country Club Plaza,” Moschin says. “One of the largest kidney care providers in the United States, DaVita is the type of well-respected company that we aim to bring to our shopping centers. With nearly 700,000 people living within a five-mile radius of Country Club Plaza, DaVita's new facility will fill a need in the area for outpatient care.”

Located at the intersection of 167th St. and Crawford Rd. just off I-57, Country Club Plaza has 450,000-square-feet. Anchored by Walmart Supercenter and Loews Cineplex 16, the center also has retailers such as Guitar Center, Payless Shoes, Rainbow, DTLR, Foot Locker, Touch of Beauty and several restaurants including Applebee's, Panda Express, Shark's Fish & Chicken, Bee's Steak and Lemonade, Kingston's Jerk Chicken and Subway. Currently, about 20,700-square-feet of space remains available for lease.
