MAUI, HI-GlobeSt.com has learned that Leil Koch, president and CEO of Equity One Real Estate Inc., based in Lahaina, Maui, HI, takes over National Association of Realtors Commercial Alliance as chairman. Koch is a 20-year commercial real estate veteran and has been involved in the real estate industry since 1981.

“As 2014 NAR Commercial Committee Chair we will continue to expand the educational opportunities, peer to peer business networking and strive for a very visible commercial legislative agenda,” he tells GlobeSt.com. “Commercial real estate provides the foundational base and economic engine that fuels healthy residential cities and communities.”

He explains that “with the help of Steve Moreira, my vice chair and the committee as a whole, we will work diligently to further these goals. ”

Koch holds the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist), CPM (Certified Property Manager), CRB (Certified Residential Broker), and MRICS (Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) designations. Koch also was awarded the Hawaii Association of Realtors—Realtor of the Year – for 2010, and the Hawaii CCIM Chapter Member of the Year in 2006.

Koch was the 2012 National CCIM Institute President, the 46th President of the Institute and the first CCIM national officer to hail from Hawaii.
