THE WOODLANDS, TX-Whole Foods Market Inc. has unveiled plans to open a 40,000-square-foot store in this far-north Houston submarket. Specifically, the national health-food chain will soon begin construction on its site in Hughes Landing on Lake Woodlands, a 66-acre, mixed-use development overseen by The Woodlands Development Co.
The store will be at the intersection of Lake Front and Lake Woodlands Drive. Opening date is scheduled for sometime in 2015.
“The Woodlands is a great fit for us," says Mark Dixon, president of Whole Foods Market's Southwest Region. "We are excited about the Hughes Landing development and its central location that is easily accessible to residents of The Woodlands and surrounding areas.”
Tim Hughes, Principal of the Falcon Companies, represented Whole Foods Market in securing land for its store. Mike Zoob and Rip Reynolds with Howard Hughes Corp. (of which The Woodlands Development Corp. is a wholly owned subsidiary) represented TWDC.
Hughes Landing on Lake Woodlands is planned for up to 11 office buildings, up to 800 multifamily units and will also offer retail, dining, entertainment and an upscale hotel.
“Local residents have long expressed strong interest in having a Whole Foods Market in The Woodlands,” says Paul Layne, executive vice president of master planned communities for the Howard Hughes Corp.
