SAN FRANCISCO-Equity Residential recently opened a new 5,000 square-foot regional headquarters at 333 Third Street in the SOMA District.

The move was announced by John Hyjer, first VP, investments for equity residential. The firm says the lease highlights its long-term commitment to the region, and provides a central location from which to develop and manage its growing property portfolio.

Following the recent acquisition of a significant portion of Archstone's Bay Area portfolio of existing and planned multi-family projects, this move is part of Equity Residential's strategic plan to better serve its communities and manage its active development sites. With the acquisition, Equity Residential now has more than 16,316 residential units under management or in active development.
