LOS ANGELES-Real estate industry leaders turned up en mass at the first annual Padres Casino Night to raise funds and awareness for Padres Contra El Cancer, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of Latino children suffering from cancer. Together, the group of real estate executives raised $30,000 for the charity.
Attendees tried their luck at black jack, poker, roulette and craps tables with $1000 of play money. Winners turned in the faux cash for one of three top prizes: a Cancun vacation, a weekend in Downtown Los Angeles with dinner and a AEG-donated suite at a Clippers game and two matching Blackberries. Partner Engineering, Primestor, the Westin Bonaventure and Mike Rovner Construction sponsored the successful event.
“I've always been a person to write a check, but with this event, I wanted to raise awareness,” Daniel Ceniceros, ALM VP of GlobeSt.com and conferences and the event chair, tells GlobeSt.com. Ceniceros has worked with the charity for four years, volunteers monthly at children's hospitals and provides transportation for family members to visit their hospitalized children. “I wanted to include my clients, friends and family to get people involved. In the future, I am hoping it will grow bigger and bigger, and we can get more real estate companies involved.”
Last year, Ceniceros hosted an industry golfing event for Padres, and earned $20,000 in donations for the charity. He was overjoyed that this year's casino night was able to generate an additional $10,000 for a charity that does such important work for children with cancer and their families.
