SAN FRANCISCO-With Transbay development in high gear, the city is seeking new development ideas for Block 8, a one-acre parcel that has been the subject of several stalled proposals.

The Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure is currently soliciting proposals from qualified development teams to purchase Transbay Block 8, and develop the site with a high-density, residential project with approximately 740 units. According to the RFP, which was floated just before Thanksgiving week, 27% of those units must be affordable to qualifying households. In addition, ground-floor retail must be included. The city's deadline for receieving proposals is February 26, 2014.

Four other sites have been put on the market by the city as part of the Transbay Development Plan. More than 10 acres are being sold, and the proceeds will raise funds for public and transportation components including the Transbay Terminal.
