JACKSON, PA-Church & Dwight will build a new production line for its gummy vitamins at its facility here, investing $55 million and hiring 180 people.

The New Jersey-based firm said it will start building next month and expects to be producing its products there – such as L'il Critters and Vitafusion – by early 2015.

Church & Dwight's two facilities in Washington State will continue to operate. The York County factory will increase manufacturing capacity by 75%.

Church & Dwight said it will sell about $300 million worth of gummy vitamins for the year 2013, which is up 20% from 2012.

At the site in Jackson, the company currently makes laundry detergent and cat litter.

The Governor's Action Team has awarded several incentives to the project: Church & Dwight will get a $900,000 grant for investment and job creation and $540,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits. Another $86,580 grant will be used to train the new workforce.

Three years ago, the company invested $85 million in building the existing manufacturing and warehouse complex in Jackson.

"The gummy vitamin business is strategically important to Church & Dwight and is expected to be a significant contributor to the future growth of sales, earnings, and cash flows," James R. Craigie, chairman and CEO, said in a statement. Gummy vitamin sales are growing at a 20 percent rate to approximately $300 million in annual net sales in 2013, according to a news release.
