LOS ANGELES-Developer the Kor Group, in partnership with Blackstone and CityView, will complete construction on Warehouse 1, a collection of 68 for-sale lofts at Barker Block in the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles, this month. The lofts start at $400,000, and will go on sale in January 2014.

Built inside the former Barker Bros. Furniture factory, the lofts have early 20th century details, like exposed brick, heavy timber beams and columns, wood and concrete floors. The lofts are available in one-story, 679 to 2,000-square-foot units and two-story, 1,134 to 1,300-square-foot units, with open floor plans, ceilings as high as 18 feet, custom wood cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. Some units will also feature private patios and balconies. Architectural firm Nakada and Associates designed the property while landscape architect Mark Tessier created the outdoor aesthetic.

“What we have been able to achieve by preserving the historic elements and fine craftsmanship of this landmark building—and integrating those virtues with modern comforts and conveniences—offers outstanding and lasting value for prospective homeowners,” says Tripp DuBois of The Kor Group. In this second and final phase of Barker Block, buyers will experience the inimitable and authentic spirit and character of the building's vintage past, as well as innovative amenities that exceed any other residential offering in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles.”

Similar to other complexes under construction in the downtown market, the building features a rooftop pool with private cabanas and outdoor fireplaces. There is an open-air courtyard and garden-themed lounge with outdoor hammocks and hanging chairs where residents can dine or relax.

The former Megatoys Warehouse is also being converted into multifamily living space in the downtown Arts District. Lowe Enterprises partnered with Megatoys for the development, a 320-unit, two building complex expected to complete in 2015.
