JENKINS TOWNSHIP, PA-Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services has secured an anchor tenant for its latest speculatively built office at CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park East here.

MAXIMUS, an operator of government health and human services programs, signed for 64,000 square feet at 575 Keystone Avenue within the park.

Mericle developed the 120,000-square-foot flex building as part its ReadyToGo Program. The company has built 21 buildings and developed 30 ReadyToGo Sites at the park since 2006.

Mericle's Bob Besecker brokered the lease transaction in concert with John Susanin of Colliers International's Conshohocken office and Sheena Gohill of Colliers' New York City office.

“MAXIMUS had an extremely aggressive time frame,” said Besecker. “We had to commit to converting 64,000 square feet of empty shell space into customized office space and creating parking for 700 cars in just 60 days,” he said.

The company's design, construction, and excavation divisions fast-tracked the project and completed it on time and on budget, he said.

More than 470,000 people live within 20 miles of CenterPoint, according to the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce. The location offers immediate access to I-81 and I-476

Bob Durkin, President of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, said the project ties in well with an eight-county region effort to increase local employment within the bioscience, life sciences and healthcare sectors
