CHICAGO—The Marquette Companies of Naperville recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary, and after another solid year of growth, CEO Nick Ryan has decided to give up the title of president and promote several of the firm's insiders, allowing them to take on more responsibility.
“This has been a very exciting year for The Marquette Companies in terms of acquisitions and new development, but it has also been a year of transition,” says Ryan. “We've grown tremendously, which we owe in large part to our leadership team. And as we start 2014, we're streamlining our approach across all areas of The Marquette Companies with our leadership team taking on new roles.”
Marquette began developing its first project in Naperville in 1983. Since then, it has become one of the largest apartment developers in the metro area. Earlier this year, the firm broke ground on Catalyst, a 19-story tower in the West Loop which will have 223 apartments.
Darren Sloniger will take over as president, but also retain his current job of chief investment officer, a position he has held for 10 years. James Cunningham, formerly the executive vice president of Marquette Management, will now serve as executive vice president of property management and chief operating officer of all of Marquette. And Trevor Ryan, who previously was the director of asset management for Marquette, has been promoted to executive vice president of asset management and strategic chief financial officer.
“Our philosophy of aligning ourselves with the right partners while always keeping our residents top-of-mind is how we first began The Marquette Companies 30 years ago, and that philosophy applies even more today,” adds Ryan. “While we grew from a local company with one property in Naperville to a national firm with properties in five states, one thing hasn't changed – our commitment to quality in everything we do.”
