LOS ANGELES-Affirmed Housing Group and PATH Ventures have received a 9% tax credit to fund construction efforts of Vermont Villas, a 79-unit multifamily complex. The development will provide permanent homeless housing to senior veterans and special needs seniors. Construction is scheduled to begin in April.

“This new community will help homeless seniors and specifically homeless senior veterans, an underserved population in need of community assistance,” James Silverwood, president of Affirmed Housing Group. “Affirmed prides itself on being innovative and original and this community, being the first of its kind in Southern California, will be positive proof of that.”

Vermont Villas will be the third low-income housing project from Affirmed Housing Group in Los Angeles County. It recently completed the Lotus Garden in Chinatown and Arbor Green community in Carson, and both feature a amenities unique to low-income housing projects. The Lotus Garden has Los Angeles' first Carmatrix parking structure, a semi-automated car stacking system, and Arbor Green is a LEED-Certified, nearly net-zero property. The first of its kind in Los Angeles County, Vermont Villas joins Affirmed's portfolio of innovative affordable housing options.

Similar to Vermont Villas, Affirmed and PATH recently partnered to build Connections, a permanent homeless housing development in San Diego.
