THE WOODLANDS– The Woodlands Development Company broke ground on Creekside Village Green, a park that will be the key component of the Creekside Park Village Center mixed-use project in The Woodlands.
The project slated for completion in the fall of 2014 will be anchored by an H-E-B grocery and include a 4,500 square-foot restaurant and two 40,000 square-foot mixed-use office/retail buildings with a strong focus on landscaping and parks.
“The addition of a central green space and family friendly water feature will encourage people to enjoy the outdoors while shopping and dining. The Village Green will also be walkable from adjacent new neighborhoods in the Village of Creekside Park, such as Liberty Branch,” said Paul Layne, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities for The Howard Hughes Corp.
A growing trend in commercial developments is the incorporation of walkability as consumers and tenants are looking toward urbanized environments, said Ryan Epstein, Senior Vice President at CBRE.
Creekside Village Green, designed by Bailey Architects, will feature Craftsman-style architecture in keeping with the design of other public buildings, parks and signage throughout the Village of Creekside Park. Perennial plantings and walkways will enhance the pedestrian experience throughout the entire Creekside Park Village Center, The Woodlands Corp. said. Tribble & Stephens is the general contractor.
The project is near Kuykendahl Road, between Creekside Forest Drive and Creekside Green Drive.
Creekside Village Green signed several retail tenants including Creekside Village Dry Cleaners, Crust Pizzeria, Dentistry of Creekside Park, Realty Executives, Studio A Pilates, Subway and Woodlands Family Dental. First Bank and Walgreen's are under construction, and First Victoria National Bank has purchased a site in the center.
The Woodlands Development Co. is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corp.
