CHICAGO—Jones Lang LaSalle has just promoted Greg O'Brien from the head of its Americas Markets business to CEO, Americas, where he will report directly to Colin Dyer, the president and CEO of JLL. And JLL has also moved John Gates from the presidency of Real Estate Services, Americas, and named him CEO, Markets, where he will oversee the firm's brokerage, capital markets, project and development services, property management and retail businesses across the US.

O'Brien already sits on the firm's Americas Executive Committee, and helps set its strategic direction. He will now head the group and also join the Global Executive Board.

“As a member of our Americas leadership for many years, Greg has been a key contributor to setting the Americas strategy and driving its execution through our businesses,” says Dyer. “Drawing on his deep experience and impressive results as a leader of multiple businesses and in his direct work with clients, he will be able to drive productive growth throughout the Americas by continuing to implement the long-term strategies set in place over the last year.”

As the head of Markets, O'Brien led the businesses responsible for more than 60% of the Americas revenue. Prior to this, he was CEO, Brokerage, where he grew revenue to more than $730 million in 2012. He was also CEO of The Staubach Company prior to its 2008 merger with JLL. Gates also came from Staubach, where he was president and chief operating officer.
