FOSTER CITY, CA-Gilead Sciences Inc. has spent about $91 million, to acquire eight buildings totaling almost 250,000 square feet of office space near its current headquarters in San Mateo County.

According to a report in the Silicon Valley Business Journal, based on public records, Gilead bought the buildings from real estate firm Hines. Gilead, a med-tech research firm and pharmaceutical manufacturer, already occupies some of the buildings through existing leases.

The Journal, notes that Gilead is Foster City's second-largest employer, and has recently purchased six other buildings. The properties had been being marketed by Eastdil Secured as the Hines Peninsula Collection.
