NEW YORK CITY--In his most recent blog post, Ethan Penner identifies the principles he finds most responsible for the special position America has in the world, and the ideals that have led to its prominence around the world.

The twin concepts of freedom and opportunity have created an idea that is relevant globally, believes Penner. He discusses how these twin principles have led to a passion and drive throughout the culture, and how this has contributed to the rise of innovation and a rise to prosperity. As America has led masses to uproot their lives to become a part of, he also discusses the contributions of the foreign born to America's stature.

Penner expresses concern that the special place is being diminished by the U.S.'s current leadership, but because of the principles at the foundation of the country, America can recover its place in the world.
