McShane Gets U of C Build-to-Suit

CHICAGO—The 86,616-square-foot facility services building will have a LEED-Silver certification and serve as office and warehouse space for support operations and staff.

CHICAGO— The University of Chicago has just awarded McShane Construction Co. the comprehensive design/build assignment for an 86,616-square-foot facility services building. The university owns the 1.85-acre site at 5225 S. Cottage Grove Ave. and will use the new structure as office and warehouse space for support operations and staff.

McShane will design the build-to-suit to meet LEED-Silver certification and install a geothermal heating and cooling system, green roof, low VOC finishes and permeable pavers. In addition, it will make electric car charging stations available within the building’s parking lot.
