REISA Elects 2014 President-Elect, Officers

INDIANAPOLIS—The Real Estate and Investment Securities Association recently held its first board meeting of the year, and the organization’s Board of Directors elected Thomas G. Voekler to serve as the trade group’s 2014 president-elect. Mark Kosanke of Concorde Financial Group currently serves as the group’s 2014 president. The other REISA officers elected at the meeting were: Peter Blum of Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. as vice president; Derek Peterson of Walton International Group as secretary; and Deborah Froling of Arent Fox LLP as treasurer. Michael Weil of American Realty Capital was the organization’s 2013 president and will remain on the board.

Voekler will serve as president-elect until December 2014 and then begin a one-year term as president in January 2015. He helped found the Richmond-based law firm Kaplan Voekler Cunningham & Frank, PLC, and now serves as managing partner of its business operations. Voekler focuses primarily on corporate finance, public and private securities offerings, including private equity, hedge funds and corporate governance issues. He also specializes in REITs, 1031 syndications and other public and private offerings of real estate investments. He graduated from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary.
