SAN ANTONIO— Atlanta-based Carter broke ground on a new 16-acre student housing development, Tetro Student Village in San Antonio less than half a mile from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) campus.
The community of 121 apartments and 77 townhomes will feature two-, three- and four-bedroom units, and the townhomes will feature two-car garages. Amenities targeted towards students will include a coffee shop, soccer field, grilling area, fire pit, study room, arcade, dog park, and multiple sports courts.
Construction on Tetro Student Village is anticipated to be complete in July.
“Tetro Student Village has already proven to be a popular choice for UTSA students, as we are close to signing nearly 100 pre-leases, which represents about 15 percent capacity,” said Shannon Failla, operations specialist with Denver-based Cardinal Group Management, who will oversee the management and leasing of the project.
The groundbreaking included “The Tetro Truck”, a mobile leasing center converted from a food truck, allowing potential tenants to experience virtual tours of the units and reserve space. Carter will deploy The Tetro Truck at nearby festivals, parks, sporting events, restaurants and bars to continue leasing for the 2014-2015 academic year.
“These are terrific results for a location that hasn't been finished yet, and the students we are talking to really respond to the vision behind Tetro. The leasing trailer is constantly busy and buzzing with energy,” added Failla.
Reese Vanderbilt & Associates is the architect on the project, Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc. is the civil engineering firm and SpawGlass is the contractor.
Carter, a national mixed-use, multi-family and student housing investment and development firm, said in a statement the strategy behind Tetro Student Village aligns with bold real estate developments the company is known for.
