DALLAS— Richardson Independent School District continues to utilize the seven million allocated to school renovations as noted in the 2011 Bond Program. This phase involves renovations and expansions at 13 district schools.
Cadence McShane Construction Company, who recently completed a large contract with the district, will serve as Construction Manager at-Risk on the project beginning during the current school year adding to the planning and logistical process. However, the majority of the construction will occur during the Summer 2014 break before students return to classes.
"Through our extensive experience working in educational facilities and in association with the highly-respected architectural firms chosen for these assignments, Cadence McShane has developed a unique understanding of the requirements and strategy necessary to bring each project to a successful conclusion," said Will Hodges president of Cadence McShane.
The City Richardson is located north of Dallas, however, Richardson ISD includes portions of Dallas and Garland as well. The school district has been growing steadily. According to Richardson ISD, enrollment in the district has increased by 5.6% in the last three years. The $170 million bond passed in 2011 with the majority of funds earmarked for facilities maintenance.
Cadence in conjunction with architect Corgan Associates Inc will commence new construction at Forest Meadow Junior High School and Dover, Merriman Park and Mohawk Elementary Schools. Renovations are scheduled at Berkner and J.J. Pearce High Schools.
Additionally, Cadence will partner with Perkins + Will architects on renovations at Brentfield, White Rock and Richland Elementary Schools. The construction firm will also work with PBK to renovated Big Springs and Wallace Elementary Schools. Lastly, Cadence will work with Reed, Wells, Benson & Co. to provide MEP upgrades to Richardson Heights, Northrich and Dover Elementary Schools.
