SAN FRANCISCO-Google Inc. has created a subsidiary for the blimp hangar and surrounding acquired land near San Francisco Bay, and it's plans for the property might be nearly as unlimited as the world wide web was when Google first launched in 1996.

The 350,000 square-foot Hangar One at Moffett Federal Airfield could be used to develop robots, rovers, and even space technology, according to a report in the San Francisco Business Times that quoted government sources.

Google's Planetary Ventures LLC will work with NASA on the space technologies portion of the equation. Planetary Ventures would take a least on the property and two additional hangars, a working airfield, an Air National Guard base and a golf course. The company will take on managing the airfield for the government. The site also used to have barge access to the San Francisco Bay, and it is adjacent to Google's planned Bay View project, which is currently on hold.
