NEW YORK CITY-Slate Property Group—which just was formed late last year—has merged with DJS Real Estate Development LLC. Real estate executive David Schwartz, who was involved in Slate's creation, has partnered with the firm's founder Martin Nussbaum, becoming principal and co-founder of the firm. Both executives worked previously at Silverstone Property Group.
Schwartz will run all development and construction projects for the organization while both officials will be responsible for all acquisition and investment decisions. Together they will be acquiring, developing and managing new residential, mixed-use and retail projects in New York City.
Schwartz brings decades of experience in buying, developing and operating real estate across the United States to Slate. He formerly founded two successful real estate firms, DJS Real Estate Development and Rush Brook Partners. Schwartz is currently developing over 1000 residential units in Brooklyn. Slate has a strong emphasis on Brooklyn and Manhattan.
"I am pleased to announce my partnership with David in managing Slate Property Group and running our development projects throughout the region," says Nussbaum. "We share similar experience and passion for creating successful development projects in emerging neighborhoods."
Earlier in his career, Schwartz worked at Crescent Heights, where he was involved in the development of over 3,000 apartment and hotel units nationwide. He began his career as an investment banking analyst at JP Morgan. Collectively, Schwartz's projects are valued at approximately $3 billion and include over 3000 residential units.
