LOS ANGELES-Developer Meta Housing Corp. has named Kasey Burke as president. Burke joins chairman and CEO John Huskey and CFO George M. Russo on the company's executive management team.
Meta Housing Corp. created the new position and expanded the executive management team to accommodate company growth. "Our company has grown tremendously since its inception more than 20 years ago, and that growth has been magnified over the past five years," says Huskey. "We have added new team members, expanded our office space, and increased the reach and scope of our projects during that time."
Burke previously served as EVP at Meta Housing. In his new role, he will strategically expand development niches and grow the company's affordable housing business. One of those niches is the arts colony-style senior housing. The development company completed such a complex last summer. Located in Long Beach, the $70 million, 200-unit affordable housing arts colony requires residents be 55 and over. The company has similar projects in Burbank and North Hollywood.
"In addition to new construction, we also intend to grow our acquisition platform," Burke adds. "We are currently seeking opportunities to acquire existing multifamily product, as well as acquisition of general partner interests. Each of these initiatives is reflective of increasing demand for affordable multifamily housing, and Meta Housing Corp. is well-positioned to leverage these opportunities." The firm also plans to focus on inclusionary housing for master developers.
Meta Housing develops both market-rate and affordable housing projects, focusing on providing housing options to seniors and families. Burke attributes the company's success to strong team environment. "This collaboration has fueled our recent growth, and as president, I look forward to continuing the momentum we've created." The company has developed more than 4,000 units in Southern California.
