SANTA CLARA, CA-A new Whole Foods Market could be a part of the Irvine Company's plan to add more retail at a major planned Santa Clara office campus.

According to a report in the Silicon Valley Business Journal, the retail development is part of Santa Clara Square, an office-and-retail campus that Irvine is building on 80-acres. The project will add more than 1 million square feet of office in a two phased. Irvine has already started construction on the first phase's office component, which will consist of three, six-story buildings, a parking structure, and amenities facilities tucked against Highway 101 at Bowers.

Irvine a leading developer of office and multifamily properties in Santa Clara's hopes to build a 125,000-square-foot shopping center at the intersection of Bowers Avenue and Augustine Drive, just south of Highway 101. That's up from less than 40,000 square feet in an earlier proposal.
