RICHARDSON, TX–State Farm will lease an additional 500,000 square feet in a new building in CityLine, KDC's mixed-use development in Richardson.
State Farm currently leases 1.5 million square feet in the first three office buildings of the development and will begin to occupy in 2014. State Farm confirms their Dallas operations center is currently under contract to be sold and thus some employees from that location will be relocated to CityLine upon completion.
"This is a significant day as State Farm expands on its commitment to the CityLine project and the community of Richardson," says Steve Van Amburgh, CEO of KDC. "CityLine will be one of the premier mixed-use projects in the country and we are thrilled that State Farm is part of it."
Construction on the fourth office building at CityLine is set to commence this summer and is slated for completion in mid-2016, KDC tells GlobeSt.com. Plans for the new 12-story office building include office space above a five-level parking structure and 30,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.
Randy Cooper, vice chairman, and Craig Wilson, senior managing director, with Cassidy Turley represented State Farm in the transaction.
CityLine, which broke ground last year, features a walkable, urban environment. KDC says the focus of the project is the CityLine Plaza including a landscaped open space as well as 92,000 square-feet of retail and restaurant space framing the CityLine Plaza and State Street.
"Offering this kind of creative development to North Texans, adjacent to the DART light rail system, is what the workforce of today is seeking and residents and visitors expect. We plan to deliver everything from office to entertainment in a very inviting and pedestrian-friendly environment," adds Van Amburgh.
The $1.5 billion master-planned project in Richardson is located near the intersection of President George Bush Turnpike and North Central Expressway (US 75).
According to KDC, CityLine at full build-out will include six million square feet of office space, two hotels, 3,925 multi-family residential units, 300,000 square feet of grocery, restaurant, entertainment and retail space, and three parks.
