SAN FRANCISCO-Allen Matkins, a California-based full service real estate and business law firm, has hired real estate and renewable energy attorney Elizabeth Clark in its San Francisco office. She joins Allen Matkins' real estate department as senior counsel in its land use practice group.

According to Allen Matkins, Clark has extensive experience in commercial real estate acquisitions, financing, development, construction, leasing and dispositions. Her practice has recently focused on the development of renewable energy projects, including site control and related issues concerning title development constraints, mineral rights and pipelines, as well as any required conservation easement mitigation measures.

Her clients include private, municipal and non-profit owners of industrial, retail and office properties, and renewable energy facilities. Clark has also assisted owners of private and municipal golf clubs in financing, renovation and leasing matters.

Clark joins renewable energy partner Barry H. Epstein who joined Allen Matkins last month.

In the past year, Allen Matkins has hired seven new lateral attorneys, in addition to the five law school graduates hired in the fall.

David L. Osias, managing partner of Allen Matkins, explains that "Elizabeth's expertise adds valuable depth and breadth to our bench strength in real estate and renewable energy matters. She has also demonstrated a commitment to community services that is consistent with Allen Matkins' culture."

In both 2011 and 2012 she was awarded for her contributions to the Downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt-Uptown Community Benefit Districts. Clark served as general counsel to the board of directors for the property owners in these business improvement districts.

Clark served on the YMCA of East Bay's Board of Directors since 2007 and was an officer from 2009 to 2012. She also served on the Alameda County Volunteer Legal Services Corp.'s board of directors, where she was an officer in 2012, and served as the Volunteer Supervising Attorney for the group's Low Income Eviction Project for Landlords until 2007.

Prior to moving to California, Clark practiced law in the US Virgin Islands for 14 years, where she was the head of a real estate and banking practice group, served as general counsel for various banks and other international clients, was president of the Virgin Islands Bar Association, and taught courses in real property law and legal research at the University of the Virgin Islands.

Before earning her law degree, Elizabeth served as chief of staff to New York State Senator Franz Leichter. She received her bachelor's degree in political science from Hunter College of the City of New York and her juris doctorate from Columbia University School of Law.
