HOUSTON—Houston Building Owners and Manager Association has awarded 2000 St. James Place “The Outstanding Building of the Year” (TOBY) in the Corporate Facility category.

Morris Chen of Transwestern manages the 335,000-square-foot office building owned by St. James Owner LLC. The property is located off of San Felipe Street in the Galleria/Uptown submarket.

“This is a huge accomplishment recognizing the vision of the ownership, Principal Real Estate Investors, and the tenant, Weatherford, as well as the execution of the management team,” says Steve Ash, senior vice president with Transwestern. “They continuously work to optimize the performance at 2000 St. James, and this recognition is a true honor.”

The TOBY awards honor achievements in building management, operational efficiency, tenant retention, emergency planning and community impact. The Houston winners advance from to the regional level from there regional winners move on to the international TOBY awards at the BOMA International Conference in June.

Winners in the additional categories include:

  • Intellicenter managed by Lincoln Property Company in the 100,00 - 249,000 square foot category
  • Pearland Medical Plaza managed by HCFD Realty in the Medical Office Building category
  • Northchase and North Belt managed by Lincoln Property Company in the Suburban Office Park Mid Rise category
  • Fulbright Tower managed by CBRE in the 1,000,000+ square foot category
