NEW YORK CITY—Transwestern has been awarded the exclusive office leasing assignment for Olympic Tower, GlobeSt.com has learned EXCLUSIVELY. The Class A, Plaza district building, owned by Olympic Tower Associates, is located at 645 Fifth Ave. and has about 400,000 square feet of office space. Transwestern's Patrick Robinson, Harry Seherr-Thoss, Debra Larsen and Lauren Davidson are leasing agents for the property.
Seherr-Thooss joined Transwestern just last week as a principal after working as the exclusive broker on this property for 17 years at a variety of firms, with the most recent one being Colliers International. The client prompted the move, Seherr-Thoss tells GlobeSt.com.
“The building felt that it would get more personal attention from senior management if it was working with a smaller shop,” he says. Not that Transwestern is small but it's just growing its presence in NY.
“This shows the market that Transwestern has a trophy building in New York City and you have to start somewhere," Seherr-Thooss. The building has credit tenants—like Cartier, the NBA and Michael Dell's personal private bank, MSD Capital, so we're looking to have all credit tenants going forward.
“Our aspiration for the building is for it be 100% occupied. That's where we are now, and we've maintained that level through various markets, but things always change so we'll do our best to maintain quality tenants and to keep the building 100% leased.”
“Securing a trophy agency assignment is an important milestone for our New York expansion,” says Robinson, Transwestern's Northeast president. “We look forward to working with Olympic Tower Associates and Harry Seherr-Thoss to enhance the marketing and leasing profile of Olympic Tower.”
Olympic Tower is comprised of 18 floors of office space with most floors totaling approximately 23,000 square feet. Located on Fifth Avenue between 51st and 52nd streets, the building offers one of the most desirable addresses in the Plaza District with expansive views of Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center and the spires of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Olympic Tower is headquarters to Richemont/Cartier in the US and to the National Basketball Association.
One of the building's distinguishing features is a redesigned public atrium, which houses the Onassis Cultural Center, a leading venue for presenting ancient, byzantine and modern Hellenic art and culture. Building amenities include new multi-tenant hallways and restrooms, redesigned high-speed elevators, an enhanced building security system, full-time concierge service, an advanced energy control system and supplementary air conditioning availability.
