LOS ANGELES—Avison Young has hired David Callahan as SVP in the firm's downtown office, GlobeSt.com has learned exclusively. Callahan will focus on tenant representation and landlord advisory services.

Callahan has 11 years of experience representing office tenants, previously serving as SVP at Cresa Los Angeles. “For the past 10 years or so, I have really enjoyed representing office clients,” Callahan tells GlobeSt.com. “I knew that Avison Young had a lot of capable brokers, and I really liked the people and the collaborative nature of the company.” Avison's unique, service-focused platform also offers Callahan the opportunity to dabble in other market areas outside of the office sector. “Every now and then opportunities come up where there are retail or industrial options, and I really felt the platform at Avison Young and the market expertise of a lot of the brokers could benefit me when I do run into those opportunities,” he says.

In addition to over a decade of experience, Callahan is also an expert at providing tenant services to mid-cap companies, who are often overlooked in the office sector. “In today's fast-paced economy, you don't always have 30- or 40-million-square-foot clients running around looking for new providers,” Avison Young managing director Chris Cooper tells GlobeSt.com. “Today, you have a lot of start-up and mid-cap companies out there that are growing very quickly and need extremely nimble, instantaneous and well thought out advice.” Cooper says that this is why Callahan is such a great match. He has worked with these clients in the past and really understands their business needs, even outside of real estate. “David's practice is indicative of the growing trend in tenant representation and corporate services,” he adds.

As SVP, Callahan is looking take advantage of the company's enterprise solutions group, which focuses on providing high-touch and senior-professional service. “My goal is really to build the Avison brand and work with the directors we have across the country,” says Callahan, who will also take on the role of CoreNet Global's Los Angeles chapter president next month. There, he can even better connect with professionals and grow the brand. “It is a good partnership,” he says.

Late last year, Avison Young also hired Rick Nash, a 28-year real estate veteran to its team in Atlanta. As principal, Nash provides office and industrial tenant representation and is also a member of the firm's enterprise solutions group.
