CHICAGO—Berkadia Commercial Mortgage LLC recently hired Aaron Abelson as senior vice president in the company's Chicago office. Abelson brings nearly 20 years of industry experience to Berkadia's conventional origination team and now reports to senior vice president and branch manager Chris Blechschmidt.

“Aaron has worked with conventional and GSE loans in the Chicago market for nearly two decades, which makes him a valuable addition to our team,” says Blechschmidt. “He has immediately begun to bolster Berkadia's already strong reputation in the Midwest commercial real estate market.”

Most recently, Abelson served as senior vice president for Alliant Capital LLC. In this role, he helped build and manage Alliant's Midwest commercial real estate finance business, focusing on agency lending. He originated and closed over $450 million in transactions. Prior to that, he spent four years at HSBC Bank USA N.A. as a senior vice president and Midwest regional manager. There, he managed the Midwest commercial real estate finance business team, who originated permanent, fixed-rate apartment loans through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for local and regional clients.

“Berkadia's Chicago team is known for its deep industry insight and keen ability to provide clients with competitive financing options,” says Abelson. “I look forward to using my past experience to support both Berkadia and our clients' future success.”

Abelson graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He received his Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School in 2002.
