LOS ANGELES—In this video, Rick Caruso of Caruso Affiliated talks one-on-one with Lew Horne of CBRE for "Inside the Real Estate Mind." The session took place at RealShare LOS ANGELES on March 25.
Caruso believes that opportunity still abounds. Revisiting his comments from the National Retail Federation conference, he re-affirms his belief that the indoor mall is now a "historical anachronism." Caruso describes his first negotiation with an anchor tenant, and discusses how that conversation and the eventual deal were shaped by his outsider status, and how this status has colored his practices and has allowed Caruso Affiliated to succeed.
Finally, the session ends with Caruso taking a close look at the civic relationships the company has maintained, specifically the Pacific Palisades development, and he addresses the speculation of his political ambitions.
