HOUSTON – Construction on the 755-acre Bluejack National development has begun. Beacon Land Development is building the private gold club and community within Montgomery County at the site of the former Blaketree National Golf Club.
“Our goal is to create a truly distinctive environment where families and friends can reconnect, enjoy their time together and create lasting memories and traditions they'll cherish for years to come,” says Michael Abbott, partner at Beacon Land Development. “At Bluejack National, we have the opportunity to build upon all of that know-how to deliver a lifestyle unlike any other to our members.”
The project is meant to mimic the great lodges, golf clubs and fishing camps of the 19th century and will therefore contain much more than a world-class 18-hole golf course. Bluejack National will also have a short couse, as well as private residences and corporate compounds, suitable for retreats, conferences and entertaining.
“While anchored by a world-class private golf course, Bluejack National will be much more than a golf club,” Casey Paulson, partner at Beacon Land Development, tells GlobeSt.com. “Amenities such as the short course, The Fort, the Black Fishing Dock, will provide for the social and recreational interests of the entire family, from the oldest to the youngest members.”
Beyond golfing, residents and guest will be able to take advantage of other recreational activities to be provided at The Fort. This portion of the development will include a bowling alley, movie theater, game room, pottery room and American-style restaurant. Outdoor activities will include a zip line, ropes course, archery range and sport courts.
The Blake Fishing Dock will also allow guest to catch bass and other game fish in the stocked ponds.
Paulson says that the land plan is currently being finalized, survey work is underway and the first real estate sales will begin later this Spring. The first portion of the development, to include the short course as well as The Porch, a place for golfers to relax and visit, will open next spring. The full golf course is likely to open by fall 2015.
Together Paulson and Abbott have overseen other similar private club projects in Hawaii, Dallas, California and Mexico. They are now bringing the concept to Houston because of its dynamic growth.
“The Houston market is one of the fastest growing, most dynamic in the country. There are several outstanding developments and exceptional private clubs in the area,” Paulson says. “We believe Bluejack National will fit nicely into this mix by providing a unique, distinctive option at the upper end of the market that will be attractive to a wide variety of real estate buyers and members.”
