CHICAGO— The Fulton River District has become a bit more pedestrian-friendly. The Fifield Cos. has finished its construction of its 105-foot span over Union Ave., connecting K2 Apartments, a 496-unit luxury tower at 365 N. Halsted St., to the Jewel - Osco on Des Plaines St. The bridge creates a private access for residents from the building's pool deck to the grocery store. Fifield developed K2 in a joint venture with Wood Partners.

“Residents of K2 have come to expect the best amenities and this new bridge adds yet another convenience to K2's luxury lifestyle." says Randy Fifield, principal and vice chair of Fifield.

K2 opened last March, and as reported in GlobeSt.com, the Chicago-based Fifield signed 125 leases in the first 75 days, leasing 25% of the building. The company has now leased about 70% of the units.

Fifield and Wood Partners will host a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, April 10 for the new bridge. K2 residents have access to this bridge and will have electric key access to enter gates at both ends.

The developers will also highlight the $1 million improvement plan for K2 in 2014. The plan includes a new canopy at K2's main entrance, a green screen on the pool deck and the pedestrian bridge.
