RICHMOND CA—City officials here will hold a press conference today to detail plans for the redevelopment of the former Steelscape plant that closed in 2005.

LDK Ventures LLC, a family-owned real estate development firm, has announced a plan to build 700,000 square feet of new industrial space on top of the abandoned steel factory.

John Troughton, a senior director at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., wrote in a letter announcing the deal, “We have caught an opportunity and an employment wave that Richmond can ride for a long time that should result in about three times the original jobs that were lost on the Steelscape site and the surrounding properties.”
